Besieged Gaza, Palestine. 5.6.2010
One-and-a-half years after Israeli army perpetrated a massacre upon the
population of Gaza, Apartheid Israel commits another crime against partisans
of Palestine in international waters. The world is moved at the plight of
Palestinians and their supporters. All of the seven crossings between Gaza
and Israel, including the Rafah Crossing—the only access Gaza has to the
external world—remain hermetically sealed.
We request that the citizens of the world oppose this deadly, medieval
blockade. We no longer rely on governments. The failure of the United
Nations and its numerous organizations to condemn such crimes proves their
complicity. Only civil society is able to mobilize to demand the application
of international law and put an end to Israel's impunity. The intervention
of civil society was effective in the late 1980s against the apartheid
regime of South Africa. Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu have not
only described Israel’s oppressive and violent control of Palestinians as
Apartheid, they have also joined this call for the world’s civil society to
intervene again.
We, therefore, ask people of conscience and civil society organizations to
put pressure on their governments until Israel is forced to abide by
international law and international humanitarian law. Without the
intervention of the international community which was effective against
apartheid in South Africa, Israel will continue its war crimes and crimes
against humanity, as articulated by the Goldstione report.
We call on civil society organizations worldwide to intensify the
anti-Israel sanctions campaign to compel Israel to end to its aggression.

(Larnaca, Cyprus 29 December 2008) - There is a time when silence iscomplicity and inaction is unacceptable. On Saturday, December 27, Israelbegan Operation "Cast Lead," a military onslaught against the civilianpopulation of the Gaza Strip that has - so far - massacred more thanthree-hundred men, women, and children, and seriously injured over athousand. In response to Israeli butchery, the Free Gaza ship, the DIGNITY, willdepart Larnaca Port at approximately 5pm (UTC), on Monday, December 29,bound for besieged Gaza. The ship is on an emergency mission carrying inphysicians, human rights workers and over three tons of desperately neededmedical supplies donated by the people of Cyprus. Coordinating with theGaza Ministry of Health, the doctors will be immediately posted tooverburdened hospitals and clinics upon their arrival. We are not asking Israel for "permission" to go, and we will not stopuntil the DIGNITY lands in Gaza. We are answering urgent calls fromhospitals and health care workers in Gaza by taking in three physicianswho will stay and work in Gaza for several weeks. We will hold Israelresponsible for the safety of our passengers and our cargo of emergencymedicine.Even before the present Israeli blitzkrieg, Karen Koning Abu Zayd, head ofthe United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), asserted that, "Gazais on the threshold of becoming the first territory to be intentionallyreduced to a state of abject destitution, with the knowledge, acquiescenceand - some would say - encouragement of the international community."Ewa Jasiewicz, a Free Gaza organizer living in Gaza, agreed with Abu Zayd, saying: "Where is the United Nations? Where is the Arab League? Where isthe outrage against Israeli cruelty and Egyptian complicity? Everyhospital in Gaza is already overwhelmed. Israel is committing war crimeshere in Gaza, and words of condemnation are no longer enough. The worldmust act now to stop this madness."The Free Gaza Movement continues to do what the governments of the worldwill not do - take direct action to defend the health, lives, and dignityof 1.5 million Palestinians under siege in the Gaza Strip. This catastrophe is still unfolding, and humanitarian needs in Gaza arequite literally devastating. The world can no longer stay silent as thePalestinian people are deliberately massacred, starved and humiliated. Wehave to create a new consciousness that turns the practice of human rightsfrom rhetoric into reality. Palestinians have an inalienable right tolive, and the undeniable right to a life with dignity. The passengers on this Free Gaza emergency delegation include:* International humanitarian and human rights workers from Cyprus,Australia, Ireland, Great Britain, Tunisia, and the United States.* Doctors going to Gaza to volunteer in local hospitals, including Dr.Elena Theoharous, surgeon and Member of Parliament from Cyprus.* Journalists going to Gaza to report on the massacre, includingAl-Jazeera reporter Sami al-Haj, a former detainee at Guantanamo Bay.* The Hon. Cynthia McKinney, former U.S. Congresswoman and Green Partypresidential candidate.
The Free Gaza Movement, a human rights group, sent two boats to Gaza inAugust 2008. These were the first international boats to land in the portin 41 years. Since August, four more voyages were successful, takingParliamentarians, human rights workers, physicians, and other dignitariesto witness the effects of Israel's draconian policies on the civilians ofGaza.http://www.FreeGaza.org

SUSPEND ISRAEL FROM THE INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTIONS!
INDICT BARAK, LIVNI ET OLMERT FOR WAR CRIMES!
140 dead, after the first hour of the criminal Israeli attack on the civilian population of Gaza. "It is just the beginning" said Israeli senior officials, vowing to continue the air strikes on the most populated city by square meter in the whole world!
We were a dozen of Palestinian and Israeli activists sitting in the AIC office in Beit Sahur (West Bank) discussing the crisis of the Palestinian secular political parties when we heard the news. After few minutes of real chock, we went each one to his or her duties in such an emergency situation: Ahmad J. contacted his friends in Gaza to gather updated information, Connie and John went to the Jerusalem office to issue and dispatch a call for action to the international social movement, Sergio and Guila contacted the foreign media, Ahmad A. went for an urgent meeting of the local popular movements in Bethlehem area, Nassar call the Palestinian political factions for an emergency national meeting, and, on the way back to Jerusalem, I contacted the Israeli progressive forces to organize, for this night, a joint protest vigil in front of PM residence, but the Women Coalition for Peace has already taken the initiative: there will be a joint in Tel Aviv at 6 PM.
After having organized the transportation for potential demonstrators coming from Jerusalem, I have still a couple of hour before leaving to Tel Aviv. I use it to call you, friends and comrades of the global social movement and the international solidarity movement with the Palestinian people, to respond immediately to this new war-crime committed by my government and its army: more than ever the Palestinian people of Gaza need your mobilization, your solidarity and your efforts. More than ever you have to pressure your governments to impose sanctions on Israel and to make crystal clear that a State that violate the most basic rules of international law has to be suspended from the community of civilized nations.
The State of Israel must be suspended from the international institutions, as long as Gaza will be under siege and the Israeli aviation and artillery will continue to massacre its population!
The Israeli political and military leadership must be brought to trial in an international tribunal for war crimes!
Let's follow the example of our British comrades, and make clear that wherever Barak, Ashkenazi, Olmert or Livni will choose to come, they will be welcomed by an indictment for the war crimes they have committed in the Palestinian Occupied Territories.
No impunity to the Israeli war criminals!
